Kids' in Ergonomic Environment

In the twenty first century America, the preventive health awareness is leading to the further development of ergonomics, a scientific discipline that studies the interaction of humans with the surrounding objects. It has been calculated by various companies and governments that safer work, study, home, or recreational environments are not only good for people’s own health, but also economically efficient for them or to their sponsors. For example, it makes sense financially for businesses to have ergonomic equipment in place, because safe and friendly equipment will reduce or eliminate employees’ injuries and save money to owners on worker compensation benefits. Households raise their kids healthier and save their budgets as well when they purchase safe appliances, furniture, school supplies and other necessary things. For example, a simple backpack for school kids can save a family pain, stress, and dollars when that backpack is designed by ergonomic principles and worn wisely by a kid. According to CBS news, in 2008, 8,000 Americans were seen in the emergency room for backpack-related injuries.
Back injuries are often the most likely traumas caused by inergonomic backpack or ergonomic backpack worn recklessly. In addition, a backpack that is too heavy can cause muscle and even tissue problems. According to Yahoo Associated Content, the American Physical Therapy Association member Dr. Wilmarth conducted a research concerned with the health effects of backpacks. The study found that wearing the heavy backpack or wearing the backpack improperly had caused the negative postural changes in kids, which in turn affected spinal discs, back’s shock absorbents. According to Dr. Wilmarth, children who are trying to carry heavy backpacks to school or attempting to bear them recklessly on one shoulder, for example, are at a great risk of mild to serious back injuries. Newsweek reports that Americans spent more than $85 billion dollars on doctor visits, X-rays, MRI scans, and medications in regard to back pains in 2005.
For those who would like to save their kids’ back health and family finances, it is recommended to pay a close attention to kids’ school backpack design, weight and wearing specifications. Rolling backpacks may be purchased for kids instead of regular backpacks to take carrying to minimum.
